Breaking News. Blackhawks Patrick Sharp On The Move?

This just in...

The Hawks are in obvious cap trouble due to the "marketing" UFA signings that were forced on Dale Tallon by McDonough of Hossa and Huet, so now Mr. Bowman's first task appears to trading a player who is truly part of the core and backbone of the Hawks: Patrick Sharp.

Sharp was perhaps one of Tallon's best trades...A steal who came out of nowhere...

There are reports today that the Maple Leafs are interested, and I can add the Sabres and Canadiens to what I am sure will be a growing list of teams... hockeybuzz.com

This rumor just kills me. Sharpe is a heck of a player, but the hawks are up against the cap as mentioned above and need to clear space for next season. They don't necessarily have to make a move this season, but if they have the right deal it sounds like they might take it. I assume a veteran defenseman, be happy if it was Kaberle, but that wouldn't save them any money. I hope he is not dealt, I'd rather see Versteeg go before Sharpe. We shall see, just speculation at this point. - SF 58

  1. Sportsfreak, I'm very concerned about this, along with the direction the Blackhawks are going right now. They finally get the city being able to fully trust the Blackhawks again, and for whatever reason they decide to launch the best GM they've had in, what would you say 15 years, 20 years? Now this rumor has materialized, and if this rumor is a delayed fact, I have to believe this does not bode well for where the franchise is going wouldn't you agree?

  2. I wasn't too surprised about tallon, it was a matter of time. He did some good stuff, but made horrible signings after the lockout, Aucoin, Cullimore, etc. Honestly, many of the moves that were attributed to Tallon might not have been made by him. Scotty Bowman is pulling all the strings.
As far as Sharpe goes, it would suck to trade him, but that is what happens when you have a lot of good players. It is just painful that we could of dealt with signing some of these guys next summer, but Tallon diecided to go out with another blunder. The hawks will be fine, Wirtz And McD are just clenaing house with the firing of Tallon. I'd just rather see Versteeg or someone else go first, but Sharpe has had some injury issues, and is older so I'm sure that is what they are thinking, but it just better help the team whatever they do becuase losing sharpe would mean losing 30 plus goals. Have Faith Angelo..commit to the indian
